I have been tasked with leading our church's sharing--evangelism--ministries, and in my studying how to go about such a process relationally and with good theology, a parishioner suggested Manna and Mercy to me as a resource. I have never encountered anything that gives such an accessible, intergenerational, and enlightening approach to scripture no matter if you're opening the Bible for the first time or have been studying it your whole life. The way Daniel Erlander has captured the essence of scripture and God's work in our midst in all of its power, without any feeling of boxed up triteness, is incredible. Here's to good kin_dom theology!!!!
I'll be using this book as a training tool for my church members to be able to explain the Christian story and why it's their story, as well as for folks wanting to join our church to know the way of living to which they're committing. Thank you, thank you Daniel Erlander for this resource that will help me lead my congregation and establish a culture of evangelism that's inviting, articulate, and based not in fear but rather the joy of a partner people immersed in God's mending work.

I heard about this book when volunteering at the International Baptist Seminary in Prague, Czech Republic. It was brought there by volunteers from the states and they used it well with students from all over Eastern Europe and Africa. I have decided to use it for my congregation for the whole year as a theme for our worship. Obviously adding pieces between advent and lent. During this year, we will use the curriculum for Manna and Mercy with our children in Sunday School also. Can you take the curriculum currently online and present it across all ages and in the pulpit for a number of weeks? I had a proposal to use the book as a preaching series leading up to Easter and beyond. It would take 20-25 weeks. I can send it to you if you like - not a curriculum, but a schedule/preaching series based on Spring 2012 - which could be modified for any year around Lent and Easter....
